Our story

From eleven acres in 1931 to two valleys today, Mistgarden has always been a working estate first.

How it started

Our great-grandfather planted his first coffee in the shade of the trees that were already here, and we have never cleared them since.

The estate grew slowly, plot by plot, as the family learned which slopes suited arabica, which suited robusta, and where the mist sat long enough in the mornings for tea. By the 1970s we were processing our own harvest; in 2009 we built a roastery on the estate and opened a tasting room in Bengaluru.

We still sell to a handful of cafés and shops we know by name. This site is where you can see everything we make, and get in touch if you'd like to stock it, brew it or come and visit.

What we hold to

Grown under shade

Every coffee plant grows beneath native trees that shelter birds, cool the soil and hold the hillsides together.

Made on the estate

Picking, processing, drying and roasting all happen here, so nothing is lost between the plant and the pack.

Paid fairly, all year

Our pickers and pluckers are employed year-round, with housing, schooling and healthcare on the estate.
